Original Pastel Artwork Size: 46 x 67cm Framed Size: 72 x 91cm P.O.A The delightful and dainty native Fantail (Piwakawaka) is common throughout the North, South, Stewart and Chatham Islands of New Zealand. There are three subspecies; the bird depicted in the painting belongs to the South Island subspecies. Wherever there are a number of trees, fantails can be found, including suburban gardens. They are most frequently seen in spring and autumn. The fantail feeds on flying insects and may perform aerobatics very close to you. |
